Facing Hawaii's Future
“Facing Hawaii’s Future: Harvesting Information about GMOs” was published in 2006 by Hawai’i SEED, with editorial and other support from Pasifika Foundation Hawai’i.
The book’s publication followed a Hawai’i tour, supported in part by PFH, of Maori and Native American speakers who presented their cultural perspectives about the invasive genetic alteration of life forms.
From the book’s back cover:
What are GMOs? Why is their such resistance worldwide to their presence in food and farming today? Hawai’i is “ground zero” for the open field testing of this radical new technology, which will affect everyone who eats as well as those who wish to protect the life of the land. Should “life” be patented and owned by corporations? Is this agricultural path the right one for Hawaii’s future?
Join in the debate. In the hour it takes to read this informative and thought-provoking booklet, you will gain a broad knowledge that took us years to uncover. The time has come to understand these issues and to help shape Hawaii’s future for the generations who are to come.
